Summary • We have an exciting opportunity for a Phlebotomist to join our Diagnostic Services department in a new private patient imaging centre on Welbeck Street, in Central London. • This is a rare opportunity to work with a group of leading imaging specialists and industry experts from the early (pre-launch) stages of a completely new unit. Opportunity • We are looking for a candidate who is dedicated to providing the highest standards of care to our patients. You must have effective communication and clinical skills and must be prepared to gain extended skills and work collaboratively to meet the needs of the service. • You will be joining us as we embark on an exciting journey and there will be huge personal and professional development opportunities at 1 Welbeck Street and elsewhere in the growing Welbeck Health network. • Some of your duties and responsibilities will include: o To ensure that all your contact with patients, clients, staff and visitors are courteous and professional and the service delivered meets with the agreed specified protocols and agreed turnaround time of results and/ or reports to consultant clients o To provide the highest standards and safe practices of care to our patients requiring phlebotomy and other sample collection o Deal with client and consultant requests in an efficient and professional manner o Perform mandatory daily and weekly check to ensure all clinical governance standards are adhered to. o Ensure accurate records are entered into the patient information system. o Monitor stock with the phlebotomy department and ensure sufficient supplies are available at all times o Responsible for the cleanliness and the day-to-day maintenance of the phlebotomy department o Be committed to working flexibly within a dynamic environment, responding to the changing needs of the service o To participate in the evaluation of complaints, incidents and accidents o Liaise with other centres and medical staff where appropriate • Post launch, reporting to the Imaging & Diagnostics Centre Lead, you will take responsibility for assisting them where necessary. Profile The successful candidate will be able to work 37.5 hours per week across 6 days, covering a flexible shift pattern between the hours of 7.45am and 8.15pm. Education and Qualifications • Secondary education (essential) • Willing to develop knowledge and skill set within the healthcare framework (essential) • Demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills (essential) • Computer literate (desirable) • NVQ level 2 or equivalent experience (desirable) Experience • At least 4 years plus experience of working within a healthcare environment (essential) • Cannulation experience (desirable) • At least 4 years plus extensive experience in phlebotomy with a variety of patients groups (essential) • Competency in adult phlebotomy using the Vacutainer System • A good understanding of pathology investigations • Understanding of health and safety, infection control prevention in the work environment • Understanding of the importance of patients’ confidentiality • Fluent communicator with good interpersonal skills • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as on own initiative • Able to prioritise and meet deadlines Salary & benefits • Competitive salary (experience dependent) • Attractive performance-linked incentives • Private healthcare • Contributory pension scheme • 25 days holiday
