Professor Alwyn D’Souza MBBS, FRCS (ORL-HNS), FRCS (Oto) Ed, FRCS (Eng) EBFPRS specialises in ENT (Otolaryngology)/ Head & Neck Surgery and Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Professor D’Souza has a wealth of experience in the treatment of a wide range of conditions of the nose and face including diseases of the ear, nose and throat.

Professor D’Souza is an internationally renowned Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Consultant ENT (Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery) providing both cosmetic surgery and aesthetic medicine services. He passionately believes in providing the best available information to his patients during consultation, to help them decide the treatments they wish to undertake.  He is a meticulous surgeon, whose hallmark is a surgical approach that provides attractive, natural and an ‘un-operated’ look.   He passionately believes in providing the best possible patient information and bases his consultations on clear and comprehensive advice, helping patients to understand the outcome and have realistic expectations for their facial rejuvenation procedures. His busy private practice provides treatment for all ENT and Head and Neck surgery conditions as well as bespoke facial cosmetic surgery procedures, which include but not limited to rhinoplasty, facelift, blepharoplasty (eyelid lift), scar revision and neck lift surgery.  Because of his extensive experience and expertise, a large number of patients are referred to his clinic for second opinion and revision procedures both from the UK and abroad.

His NHS base is University Hospital Lewisham – as the clinical lead, he runs a state-of-the-art combined dermatology – facial plastic and reconstructive surgery clinic in conjunction with a dermatologist. This clinic treats patients with facial skin cancer and other surgical conditions.  A number of tertiary referral patients requiring major facial and nasal reconstructive surgery procedures are referred to this clinic.

He is a meticulous surgeon and passionately believes in providing the best available patient information and bases his consultations and treatment on clear, comprehensive patient assessment and inter-speciality referral where appropriate.  He is supported by his excellent, dedicated, experienced office staff, nurses, nutritionist and psychologist, who work to support our patients to achieve best possible patient satisfaction, and hence a successful outcome.

Professor Alwyn D’Souza is also a keen researcher, carried out a research project on Electron microscopy of taste buds at Keele University and has intense interest in art and photography.

As the leader of professional associations, he has held office as President of British society of Facial Plastic Surgery, and is the President Elect of European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (EAFPS.org). He is the Editor-in-chief for the peer reviewed ‘Facial Plastic Surgery Journal’ by Thieme publishers.

Professor D’Souza publishes extensively, research and review articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and has authored several textbook chapters.  He is a key opinion leader, an invited speaker to both national and international conferences and is an examiner for postgraduate examinations both in ENT (otolaryngology) and Facial Plastic Surgery.  He is a dedicated teacher and is the founder of Medical training courses: a body which provides medical school entry courses, GP courses, and facial plastic surgery courses for trainees and consultants. His fellowship programme provides super-specialist training in Facial Plastic Surgery to suitably qualified surgeons from around the world leading to certification in Facial plastic surgery on completion of due examination and certification process.
