About Dr Steve Connor

Dr Steve Connor was appointed as a Consultant Neuroradiologist at King’s College Hospital, London in 2002. He also holds an honorary post as a Consultant Head and Neck Radiologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital. He is the past president of the British Society of Head and Neck Imaging (BSHNI) and the current Visiting Professor for the Royal College of Radiologists and BSHNI. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at King’s College London.

He has organised a number of national radiology meetings, and is a current member of the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) professional learning and development committee. He has written a number of national imaging guidelines, including those for head and neck cancer imaging. He is actively involved in radiology and ear nose and throat/maxillofacial training programmes and he leads the annual London temporal bone radiology course. He examines for the European diploma in head and neck imaging. He receives regular invites to lecture and sit on scientific committees at international meetings.

Research Highlights

Dr Connor has authored over 130 peer reviewed articles (h index 29) and has written seven book chapters. He has acted as deputy or associate editor for three journals and has edited two special editions. His main research interests are in head and neck cancer, skull base and otology imaging. He is currently chief investigator and has received grants for three prospective studies and is also actively involved in 15 further clinical studies. He is a member of three PhD thesis committees and has supervised an Academic Clinical Fellowship research project as well as several MSc projects.

Dr Connor is currently chief investigator and has received grants for a five year prospective study on the assessment of head and neck cancer treatment response with diffusion weighted MRI, a study of facial nerve tractography in vestibular schwannoma surgical planning and an investigation of ultra high field MRI in endolymphatic hydrops/Meniere’s disease. He is currently co-investigator and has received grants for work on artificial intelligence solutions to improve the management of vestibular schwannoma and affordable international approaches to the management of head and neck cancer.
