About Dr Boon Lim

Dr Boon Lim is a cardiologist and electrophysiologist at OneWelbeck Heart Health, where he is also a founding member and partner. His specialist areas are heart rhythm disturbances including atrial fibrillation, pacing and syncope.

His innovation and ongoing research into developing new techniques for AF ablation have led him to be widely considered one of the best atrial fibrillation experts and AF ablation specialists in London. As one of the top cardiologists in London for Atrial Fibrillation (AF), having performed over 2000 ablations, he continues to perform >100 ablations for atrial fibrillation per year, and continues to teach registrars in a busy tertiary hospital based at Hammersmith and Imperial College London. He has an active research program studying the role of the autonomic nervous system in AF and syncope.

As the clinical lead for the nationally-renowned Imperial Syncope Diagnostic Unit, Dr Lim has extensive experience in reporting tilt table testing. Dr Lim is committed to developing better and safer techniques to better treat patients with atrial fibrillation and syncope.

Research Highlights

Dr Lim research interests are in mapping and improving catheter ablation techniques for atrial fibrillation, and developing novel strategies to treat vasovagal syncope; improving the quality of life for patients with recurrent blackouts.

Dr Lim has been awarded several prizes for his research, including the top prize President’s Medal for Cardiology at the Royal Society of Medicine, the Lindo Foundation Prize at St Mary’s Hospital, and Runner-up in the Young Investigator Award for the British Cardiovascular Society, and Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society Meetings.
