CaRi-Heart®
The technology works by accurately measuring the amount of inflammation in the coronary arteries, which supply the heart with blood, identifying any arteries which are at an increased risk of becoming narrowed or blocked. Please call the Centre to discuss pricing
What is CaRi-Heart® and what is it used for?
Inflammation is the key process that drives the development of coronary artery disease and plaque rupture (which cause heart attacks); but it is not detectable with current routine diagnostic tests. If undetected, this may lead to a heart attack, a serious condition where one or more of your coronary arteries become blocked.
CaRi-Heart® is a non-invasive technology developed by cardiologists at Caristo, a University of Oxford spinout, that can be applied to analyse any routine CT coronary angiogram to accurately predict a patient’s risk of a heart attack – years in advance.
This service is ideal for a clinical reason such as those with pre-existing heart conditions or a family history of heart disease.
What does CaRi-Heart® analysis detect?
The technology works by accurately measuring the amount of inflammation in the coronary arteries, which supply the heart with blood, identifying any arteries which are at an increased risk of becoming narrowed or blocked. If increased levels of coronary inflammation are identified, we can provide you with a personalised prevention and management plan from one of our cardiologists.
When will I receive my results?
You will receive the results of the investigation in 1 – 2 days. In addition, your healthcare professional may discuss any clinical actions based on your overall health, either in person or in a written report.
Why would I need this kind of investigation?
This technology allows patients to understand their risk of having a significant heart attack in the future and the opportunity to put preventative measures in place such as lifestyle changes or appropriate medication to improve heart health and minimise the risk of developing future heart conditions.
With CaRi-Heart® analysis you can:
- Understand the root cause and severity of your condition
- Measure and monitor improvements in your treatment
- Feel confident that you receive appropriate care (tests, procedures, medication)
Please note this service is doctor referral only.
