Mr Ali completed his undergraduate medical studies at UCL and the University of Glasgow, before undertaking his specialist postgraduate training in the North West Deanery, gaining comprehensive experience in a wide range of urological conditions. To further refine his subspecialty knowledge, he completed a post-CCT fellowship focused on kidney stone surgery and complex endourology.
A highly skilled and high-volume kidney stone surgeon, Mr Ali is an expert in all aspects of kidney stone management, including shockwave lithotripsy, ureteroscopy with laser, and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), including miniaturised PCNL. He is proficient in independently establishing PCNL tract access and also collaborates with colleagues on complex cases that benefit from robotic surgery using the Da Vinci Xi robotic system.
In addition, Mr Ali leads a specialist Metabolic Kidney Stone Clinic dedicated to reducing stone recurrence. He is also an experienced general urologist, offering expertise in the assessment and management of urinary tract infections (UTIs), haematuria (blood in urine), urinary symptoms, and scrotal problems.
Mr Ali serves as the Education Lead for Urology at The Royal London Hospital. He is also part of the faculty for subspecialist training courses and frequently lectures on advanced surgical techniques both in the UK and internationally.
