About Mr David James

Mr David James is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at OneWelbeck Digestive Health, specialising in High Resolution Anoscopy, Anal dysplasia, Proctology, Haemorrhoids, Bowel Cancer and colonoscopy.
Mr James is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust where he is Clinical Lead for Colorectal Surgery. He is also the Colorectal Cancer Lead for the Thames Valley Cancer Alliance.
Mr James qualified in London with distinction in Surgery and a 1st Class BSc (Hons) degree. He trained in London and Oxford and completed a PhD in robotic surgery under the supervision of Professor the Lord Darzi at the Hamlyn Centre for Robotic Surgery, Imperial College, London.
In 2016 he was awarded the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland Gold Medal for outstanding performance in the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons examination.
Mr James then undertook two highly prestigious International Colorectal Fellowships. The first year was spent training at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA. The second year was at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, Queensland, Australia.
During his Fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic, Mr James was trained in robotic surgery and complex tertiary referral colorectal surgery. Whilst in Brisbane, he gained experience in advanced minimally invasive colorectal surgery. He has published and presented internationally on colorectal surgery.
Mr James’ practice includes High-Resolution Anoscopy for Anal Dysplasia, laser ablation for anal dysplasia (AIN), general proctology (haemorrhoids, anal fissure, anal fistula), colonoscopy and Colorectal Cancer.
