Key Results Areas/Main Duties and Responsibilities:  

Key Results Areas/Main Duties and Responsibilities:  

  1.    To lead on all areas of cardiac MRI imaging including education, training and protocol/ image optimisation for the adult and paediatric population. 
    2.    To keep the team up to date on latest cardiac developments in practice
    3.    Embed new scanning practices and protocols to continuously improve quality and efficiency 
    4.    To be an active member of the wider team of radiographers, scanning all areas of the body where required 
    5.    To work across all 4 MRI scanners at the highest level of knowledge and troubleshooting 
    6.    Have a flexible and pragmatic approach to your work with exceptional organisational skills that will enable the post holder to manage a varied workload and ensure safe clinical practices.
    7.    To adhere to and promote MRI safety in the MRI environment.
    8.    To perform imaging examinations with top quality patient care, demonstrating awareness of responsibility to and advocacy for patients.
    9.    To independently assess and justify examinations by use of a medical referral.
    10.    To perform a wide variety of MRI examinations including MRI Cardiac, Musculoskeletal (MSK), Gynaecological, Gastrointestinal (GI), Neurological, Urological, Breast, Ear/Nose/Throat (ENT) and Whole body Imaging. Training will be provided if required.
    11.    To administer drugs and contrast agents in line with Patient Group Directions (PGDs) and local protocols and policies.
    12.    To deputise in the Superintendents’ absence.
    13.     Liaise closely with Consultant Radiologists/ Cardiologists and colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team. 
    14.    To evaluate the clinical quality of images produced and to make appropriate protocol adjustments/recommendations to maximise the clinical accuracy for the imaging reports.
    15.    To accurately record data using CompuCare.
    16.    To be proficient with PACS and image transfer portal (IEP)
    17.     To ensure that high professional standards are maintained throughout the department, in terms of dress, technical quality and patient care. 
    18.    Take responsibility for own actions. 
    19.    Act in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
    20.    To have a flexible approach to working patterns to meet the continuing needs of the service. 
    21.    To adapt to different settings within the professional area. 
    22.     To apply sound clinical reasoning skills as the basis for appropriate professional decision making and work autonomously
    23.    To report all absences in keeping with the company policy. 
    24.    To vet and protocol exam requests 
    25.    Be responsible for the safe and competent use of equipment by the team.
    26.    Ensure compliance of the ‘Local Rules’ within the department.
    27.    Ensure and maintain a high level of health and safety standards including cleanliness and infection control.
    28.    Communicate abnormal findings in accordance with Centre’s SOP’s 
    29.    To report all equipment faults to the equipment manufacturer or maintenance contract provider
    30.    To ensure that any operational difficulties are reported to the MRI Superintendent immediately.
    31.    To work under the guidance of the MRI Superintendent.
    32.    To act as clinical mentor for diagnostic imaging staff as appropriate.
    33.     To assist with the staff rota and ensure the hours are reconciled monthly on the dedicated portal.
    34.    Approval of annual Leave for the MRI staff.
    35.    To work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
    36.    To participate in the Monday – Sunday and on call rota.  The rota may change to meet continued service delivery.
    37.    Commitment to MR Safety and works closely with the MR Safety Officer

•    Adhere to all General data protection regulations GDPR.
•    To deal with initial complaints from patients, carers or other professionals and refer where necessary to the appropriate MRI Superintendent and CT/General X-ray Superintendent. 
•    To observe the company policy for reporting incidents in a timely manner
•    To execute and implement incident action plans.
•    To develop protocols and update SOP’s
