Role Information:

OneWelbeck was founded by a group of leading clinicians whose objective is to develop a state-of-the-art private day-case centre in the greater London area. OneWelbeck offers outpatient procedural and day-case intervention work in a unique dedicated setting to include procedures such as Ear, Nose & Throat, Permanent Pacemaker Implantation, Cryo AF Ablation, Orthopaedic, Gynaecological and Gastro-Intestinal procedures. Welbeck Health Partners are developing several other day centres across the UK in addition to the flagship centre at 1 Welbeck Street. Further centres are also planned internationally.

their own initiative to deal with matters on behalf of their Manager/Management Team.

The post holder will be an effective decision maker, who is able to prioritise their own workload whilst responding to interruptions. The post holder will be able to deal with unpredictable work patterns and proactively deal with issues without reference to others.

Job Summary:

The Head of Paediatric Nursing is an influential role within the organisation and is critical to the leadership of the Paediatric strategy.  The post holder is responsible for: 

·       Defining, implementing, and monitoring standards of paediatric care and service delivery across the Welbeck Group.

·       Act as a subject matter expert to clinical and non-clinical staff in the design, delivery and monitoring of programmes of paediatric care across Welbeck Group portfolio of services.

·       Take a leadership role in ensuring the Centre continued compliance with relevant regulatory standards and specifically the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 and will ensure systems and procedures are in place to assure the quality of paediatric services against relevant regulatory standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities: Clinical   

•    To act a paediatric expert resource for Centres and provide support and challenge with regard to quality improvement and regulatory compliance. 
•    To support the design, implementation and delivery of paediatric systems which monitor standards of care, detect and escalate deterioration and inform the senior leadership of emerging risks to service delivery or strategy implementation. 
•    To act as the lead for learning disabilities ensuring that robust systems, processes, and support programmes are designed, implemented, and monitored to ensure the provision of a high quality, tailored service to patients or other customers with learning disabilities.
•    Manage the delivery of consistent, safe service in all aspects of the patient journey and instil a culture of customer service throughout the nursing team.
•    Act at all times within the NMC code and scope of professional conduct

Communication:

•    Network with local and national organisations regarding paediatric care.
•    The Head of Paediatric Nursing will be a strong team player who treats all colleagues with equal respect, is inclusive and democratic but also prepared to manage staff to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective services.  
•    As the key member of the Paediatric leadership team, you will be responsible for advancing change in four main of performance - quality, patient experience, financial performance and leadership through outstanding communication skills.

Operational Delivery:  

•    To support new business development and growth through horizon scanning clinical innovations and working with Centres to ensure the continuous improvement of paediatric service quality and safety. 
•    To support clinical, operational and commercial functions in designing and implementing pathways of care which meet the needs of consultant’s as well as individual patients. 
•    To work collaboratively with the Centres in the design, delivery and monitoring of paediatric programmes of education which meet the needs of individual practitioners, departments and implementation of the paediatric overall strategy. 
•    Participate in development and facilitation of new procedures, techniques and for the BCH actively supporting business development identifying opportunities when possible. Teaching and developing senior nurses to be commercially aware.
•    Identity the need for and develop professional competencies with the clinical sisters and charge nurses for the management of paediatric patients throughout their journey in the Hospital. Ensure mandatory training and any training which will enhance paediatric care and practice is managed and completed on time.

Quality Care & Governance:

•    To actively lead preparation for regulatory inspection across the paediatric services, acting as a supportive resource to multi-disciplinary teams.
•    To advocate for patients, service users and their loved ones ensuring that guest voices are heard and listened to as part of paediatric service design and delivery across the Welbeck Group.
•    The Paediatric Manager plays a significant role in the safeguarding of children and in conjunction with Safeguarding Lead and ensures that a comprehensive and robust approach, strong governance, and training is embedded across the hospital in order to protect all children visiting the facility.
•    Act as a change agent and innovator, promoting an effective change culture within the nursing, medical and multi professional teams, with particular reference to current research end relevant NICE guidelines.
•    Promote the development of an evidence-based approach to clinical care.
•    Carry out audits to assess the clinical effectiveness of each of the Centres and develop tools to improve the quality of the paediatric service.

Reporting:

•    Reporting mechanisms will vary through the monitoring of standards.

Resource/Financial Management:

•    No direct budget holding responsibilities.

Infection Prevention & Control:

All OneWelbeck employees, whether involved directly or indirectly in the provision of healthcare, have a duty to cooperate with and implement Business policies and procedures in preventing and controlling infection. ·       Relevant experience in clinical leadership and management, clinical audit and quality improvement, risk management, incident investigation, use of clinical governance databases/IT systems.

·       Experience of setting up and implementing internal processes and procedures.

·       Minimum of five years as a senior paediatric nurse e.g. Ward Sister and above to Matron level.
