Professor Zoe Winters is a leading Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon and Breast Specialist, specialising in the diagnosis, treatment and management of breast diseases, breast cancer and all benign breast problems. In addition to her work at OneWelbeck, Professor Winters is an Honorary Professor of Breast Surgery at University College London and teaches post-graduate trainee surgeons in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, whilst working in collaboration with colleagues at Royal Marsden Private Care.
In providing a one-stop breast clinic, Professor Winters ensures that the highest standards of treatment and care are given to all her patients. By working in partnership with radiologists, the combination of high-quality and latest imaging techniques results in the real time assessment and diagnosis on the same day. Professor Winters is able to efficiently advise patients on their personal treatment plan, minimising lengthy waits for results and ensuring patients’ peace of mind.
As a clinical academic breast cancer surgeon, Zoe has received nationally competitive grant funding to lead novel trials in breast surgery. Professor Winters’ passion for the latest developments in breast cancer surgery are reflected in over 70 peer-reviewed publications (see below). Professor Winters provides access to the latest genetic testing of breast cancers after surgery (Oncotype DX, Prosigna) to help women make personalised decisions on their requirements for chemotherapy. Zoe is also focused on the latest testing to refine personalised breast screening based on individual women’s breast cancer risk scores. Professor Zoe Winters graduated in medicine from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg South Africa in 1983. Zoe trained in South Africa and was the recipient of a Senior Oxford Nuffield Research Scholarship to do her PhD in the Molecular biology of cancer at the University of Oxford under a world leading Professor in Breast Oncology. Professor Winters became a Consultant academic Breast Cancer Surgeon at the University of Bristol in 2000 and was the Director of the Breast Cancer Surgery and Patient-centred Outcomes Research Group and Quality of Life for 10 years. Professor Winters has worked in several leading UK Teaching NHS Hospitals since 2016. Professor Winters became a Professor of Breast Surgery in 2017 at University College London.
