Miss Oluyemi Femi-Ayeni is an AGIP/BSG-accredited Independent Healthcare Practitioner specialising in gastrointestinal physiology. Miss Oluyemi Femi-Ayeni is an AGIP/BSG-accredited Independent Healthcare Practitioner specialising in GI Physiology. She currently serves as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in GI Physiology at Welbeck and is also the Lead Nurse for GI Physiology at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Miss Femi-Ayeni performs a wide range of upper and lower gastrointestinal diagnostic tests, including oesophageal manometry, 24-hour pH-impedance monitoring, hydrogen and methane breath testing, as well as other lower GI physiology assessments.
She is a UK-registered adult nurse and has been on the NMC register since 2003. Over the years, she has worked in various NHS hospitals across the country. In 2009, she began her career in GI Physiology as a Trainee Nurse Practitioner at the Royal Free Hospital, where she received on-the-job training. During this period, she also completed academic modules in both upper and lower GI testing at De Montfort University over a span of two to three years.
In 2014, Miss Femi-Ayeni successfully completed all required theoretical and practical assessments and obtained her accreditation from the Association of GI Physiologists (AGIP/BSG) as an Accredited Independent Healthcare Practitioner in GI Physiology. She has maintained this accreditation since 2014, renewing it every two years.
Prior to her current role, she worked as a GI Physiology Practitioner at the Royal Free Hospital until March 2024. She now serves as the sole GI Physiologist within her current NHS Trust.
