About Mr Varun Sahdev
Mr Varun Sahdev is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and Andrologist at University Hospitals Southampton and an Honorary Consultant at University College London Hospital (UCLH). He specialises in all aspects of general urology, with a sub-specialist interest in andrology and male genital reconstruction. He provides tertiary-level andrology services for the Wessex region and supports the penile cancer service at UCLH.
Mr Sahdev qualified from the University of Nottingham Medical School in 2009. He completed his core surgical training in the Oxford Deanery, followed by higher urological training in the South-West of England. He subsequently undertook a prestigious fellowship in andrological surgery at UCLH, one of the leading centres in Europe.
He has expertise in a wide range of andrological and reconstructive procedures, including surgery for urethral strictures, Peyronie’s disease, erectile dysfunction, vasectomy reversal, male infertility, penile prosthesis, and hypogonadism (low testosterone). He regularly performs high-volume surgeries such as urethroplasty, penile prosthesis implantation, surgical sperm retrieval (including Micro-TESE), penile straightening procedures (Nesbit and Lue techniques), and insertion of artificial urinary sphincters. He also treats foreskin conditions and scrotal swellings.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Sahdev is active in research and education. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and is a regular speaker at regional, national, and international academic meetings. He is a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) Section of Andrology, the European Association of Urology (EAU), and is a member of the Specialist Interest Group for Male Fertility at the British Fertility Society.
