Role Information:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team within the Minimally Invasive Procedure Suite at OneWelbeck Orthopaedics & Neurology. This is a patient-facing role focused on the pre- and post-procedural journey, including the administration of infusion therapies. You will play a key role in patient admission, recovery, education, and discharge planning, ensuring continuity and safety across every stage of care.     Key responsibilities 

     

    • Provide responsive, evidence-based nursing care in line with NMC standards and the OneWelbeck Code of Conduct
    • Admit and prepare patients pre-procedure, ensuring clear communication of the care pathway and addressing patient queries
    • Safely recover post-procedural patients, ensuring monitoring, documentation and safe handover or discharge in line with day surgery criteria
    • Deliver infusion therapies in accordance with prescribed treatment plans and best practice guidelines
    • Manage post-operative pain, nausea, and fluid balance, escalating any concerns where necessary
    • Conduct clinical tasks including venepuncture, cannulation, IV therapy, ECGs and vital sign observations
    • Maintain accurate patient records and contribute to audit and continuous quality improvement
    • Support patients emotionally and physically, ensuring dignity, respect, and privacy are maintained at all times
    • Mentor junior nurses and HCAs, fostering a supportive learning culture and clinical competency development
    • Provide education and discharge advice to patients and carers, ensuring understanding and adherence
    • Act as daily coordinator in the absence of the Ward/Clinical Lead, ensuring effective staff allocation and patient flow
    • Collaborate with consultants and multidisciplinary teams to deliver seamless and holistic patient care
    • Participate in safeguarding, infection control and risk management procedures as per OneWelbeck policy
    • Actively contribute to service development, departmental meetings, and internal initiatives aligned to clinical excellence
    • Support the Clinical Lead with the coordination of staff training compliance, particularly around statutory and mandatory training
    • Assist with monitoring and restocking of clinical consumables and pharmacy items, including safe storage of medications and fluids
    • Participate in departmental governance activities including incident reviews and quality improvement projects

     

    Qualifications and experience 

    • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (essential)
    • Minimum of 3 years’ post-registration experience in a clinical setting, including recovery or pre/post-operative care (essential)
    • Competent in IV therapy, venepuncture and cannulation (essential)
    • Current BLS certification (essential); ILS certification (preferred)
    • Experience with infusion therapies (essential)
    • Experience in post-anaesthetic recovery (desirable)
    • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capability (desirable)
