Role Information:
We are looking for a compassionate and proactive Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our Minimally Invasive Procedure Suite at OneWelbeck Orthopaedics & Neurology. This role will support pre- and post-procedure care, including for patients receiving infusion therapies. You will work closely with nursing and medical teams to provide high-quality, holistic care in a modern, patient-centred environment. Key responsibilities
- Support the admission and discharge of patients under the supervision of a registered nurse
- Assist in preparing patients for procedures and support recovery following minor surgeries and infusion treatments
- Help with basic clinical observations including temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen saturations
- Provide emotional and physical support to patients, maintaining privacy and dignity at all times
- Undertake non-invasive clinical tasks such as ECGs, equipment preparation, and patient transport
- Ensure the environment is clean, safe and well-stocked, supporting infection prevention and control procedures
- Assist in updating patient documentation as directed and maintaining confidentiality at all times
- Provide chaperoning support for clinical interventions and procedures
- Support effective communication with patients, carers and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Act as a role model for junior HCAs, supporting team spirit and service excellence
- Support nursing staff in equipment preparation and ensure readiness of procedure areas
- Assist with maintaining medical gas and suction equipment checks under supervision
- Contribute to patient feedback collection and quality improvement activities
Qualifications and experience
- Experience in a hospital, procedure suite or day surgery environment (essential)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (essential)
- Strong interest in working within infusion therapy and minor surgical recovery settings
- Commitment to patient safety, comfort, and communication
- Willingness to learn and support clinical tasks within scope of role
