Personal biography

After qualifying from medical school at the University of Barcelona in 2005, Francesc Malagelada undertook his Trauma and Orthopaedics training in Spain and the UK at the most prestigious institutions including The Royal London and The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

To gain further specialised expertise, he completed his BOFAS accredited Foot & Ankle fellowship in Windsor. He has travelled to international centres of excellence in the USA, Switzerland, Germany, and France to expand his knowledge and nurture from distinguished overseas experts.

Since 2017 he has been practising as a consultant at The Royal London Hospital where he joined a world-renowned team of orthopaedic surgeons.

He currently serves as Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London, teaching on a Masters degree in orthopaedic trauma sciences.

Research

Francesc Malagelada is actively involved in research and has published extensively in the most respected international journals and textbooks in the field of orthopaedics. His research endeavours are focused on improving his patients’ experience and obtaining outstanding outcomes.

He completed a PhD awarded with the highest ‘Cum Laude’ distinction for studies on minimally invasive foot surgery and has lectured internationally at courses and conferences on the topic.
