Dr Simon Peake
  • Why did you enter the medical profession?

Above all, I am a people person. I enjoy helping people and treating them – I like seeing people get better. I like to listen to my patients and spend time to get to know them.

  • What encouraged you to specialise in your chosen field?

I have always found gastroenterology to be an interesting and challenging speciality. This is a speciality which requires intellectual and practical skills and ability, and I feel that I am well suited to this.

  • How do you provide excellent patient care?

I believe in individualised and personalised care to each patient. I always spend time listening to the patient and identifying all their concerns and then ensure that each one is correctly addressed. I am open and ensure that patients always feel at ease in the consulting room. I also ensure that I take the time to explain each aspect of their condition, planned investigation and/or treatment.

  • What keeps you busy outside of work?

I live in Kew, west London, with my wife and three children. When I’m not working, my children take up the vast majority of my time. I am a keen Arsenal fan and enjoy travelling, golf and tennis.
