Career Highlights
Dr Gavin Johnson, MSc, MD, FRCP, is a consultant gastroenterologist at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Free Hospital.
After graduating in 1998, Dr Johnson went on to complete his postgraduate training in the north east of England, Sydney and London. He has been on the specialist register of gastroenterology since 2009. During his training, Dr Johnson spent a year as an education fellow at the Royal College of Physicians, running nationwide projects that culminated in a diploma, masters and MD in medical education.
His specialist interest in medical education has led him to develop an internationally recognised postgraduate training portfolio at UCLH in ERCP, endoscopy, and several other gastroenterology disciplines, since 2010.
Dr Johnson is currently leading a Europe-wide group for the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, to develop training standards in EUS and ERCP, and is chairing a similar group for JAG within the UK.
